Piper Orton has been named the director of Women’s Health Programs within the Connors Center for Women’s Health and Gender Biology. In this new role, she will lead program development and new initiatives for the center.
Orton has served in a series of leadership positions at the Harvard Business School and Planned Parenthood, including serving as interim CEO and vice president and CFO of Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts and, most recently, as interim CFO of Planned Parenthood of Connecticut. In addition to her professional responsibilities, Orton has been deeply involved in the network of local non-profits. Her ties to the community have led her to assume roles such as the president of the Junior League of Boston, member of the Board and Executive Committee of the National Conference for Community and Justice, and member of LeadBoston, a civic leadership program organized by NCCJ. Orton also holds a master’s degree in business administration from Cornell University and a bachelor’s degree from Williams College.
“My community involvement has shown me that it is possible for people to band together and really make a difference,” said Orton. This is a lesson she is eager to apply here at BWH. “I am thrilled with this opportunity to help assist in the delivery of compassionate care and bring expert medical services to our community.”
“Piper's knowledge of the acute health issues facing women in our community and her connection to Boston’s civic organizations make her a well-equipped leader for this position,” said Paula Johnson, MD, executive director of the Connors Center for Women's Health and Gender Biology. “With a strong financial background and proven management experience, we are eager to see the opportunities for collaboration Piper can maximize to advance women's health.”
