As has been previously announced, the MBTA is changing its monthly pass program in January with the introduction of the Charlie Card. The Charlie Card is different than the Charlie Ticket commuters use now. The Charlie Card is a plastic card that will be used for the current Bus, Subway and Senior Passes. Do not throw away the card at the end of the month.
Employees who currently are enrolled in the Bus, Subway, Combo, Combo plus or Senior programs will be issued a reuseable Charlie Card in late December for use beginning January 2007. The card serial number will be attached to your PeopleSoft record, and the card will be automatically recharged with your monthly payroll deduction. Employees who use the commuter rail, boat or new inner/outer express bus programs will continue to receive a monthly Charlie ticket until the MBTA converts those programs at the end of 2007.
More information on the MBTA pass programs and in particular the inner/outer bus routes can be found at www.mbta.com The deadline for registering or changing MBTA passes in PeopleSoft is the 15th of the month for the next month’s passes. All managers are asked to get this information to their employees, as this is a major change in the way they will commute. Call the Parking and Commuter Service office at ext. 2-5877 with questions.
