The BWH Backup Child Care Center took its first steps one year ago when it opened to provide emergency backup childcare services to BWH employees and their families. On opening day, the center cared for one infant.
The Backup Child Care Center had a lot to celebrate on Wednesday, its first birthday. More than 250 children of both employees and patients spent time at the center during the past year, utilizing the program a total of 1,025 times.
In addition to the emergency backup services provided for children 8 weeks to 12 years old, the center also hosts vacation clubs in February, April, June, August and December to coincide with school vacations.
The center last week received a Partners in Excellence award for working as a part of the Child Care Services team to successfully complete the opening of the center.
“It has been a great first year and we are looking forward to continuing to provide excellent programming for the children of BWH employees and patients as we head into our second year,” said Christine Clarke, education coordinator for the BWH Backup Child Care Center.
