BWH last week was one of five organizations to benefit from the nearly $70,000 raised from sales of the Conquer Cancer license plate.
The Massachusetts license plates were created in memory of Michael Zuker, of Newton, who lost his battle with lung cancer three years ago at age 53. His family founded the Conquer Cancer Coalition of Massachusetts to honor Zuker and help others battling cancer.
“Brigham and Women’s Hospital and its Channing Lab will use these philanthropic funds to advance programs in cancer prevention and research, including the 30-year Nurses Health Study which has provided new and important information to what we understand about cancer risk and prevention,” said BWH Chief Development Officer Mark Kostegan. “We are enormously grateful to the Zuker family and members of the Conquer Cancer Coalition for their efforts to help others.”
