Spring Course Offerings
Build the Future of Health Care and Research
January 15, 22 & 29
BWH, along with the Boston Health Care and Research Training Institute, is providing employees the opportunity to build a career in health care and research through training and education. Employees have the option to choose from different training courses including ESL, GED, administrative skills and technical skills seminars, coaching for managers, pre-college and collegiate preparation sessions. Courses begin in February or March. Career coaches will be hosting information sessions outside the Cafeteria on the following dates:
Wednesday, January 15, 11a.m. – 2 p.m.
Wednesday, January 22, 2 - 4 p.m. and
Wednesday, January 29, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
All courses require some form of testing or assessment prior to enrollment. Call 617-525-3112 for more details.
Continuing Spanish for Health Care Providers
Starting January 13
This course is for employees who have had at least one semester of Spanish and are familiar with basic vocabulary. Classes start January 13 and continue each Monday night from 6 to 8 p.m. through April 7 in the Emergency Department Classroom. Cost of both classes are $60 for BWH employees and $150 for all others. Employees must bring a check payable to BWH with them to the first night of class. Register by email only. Email

Beginning Spanish for Health Care Provider
Starting January 14
An introductory program for those with very little or no prior experience with Spanish. An emphasis will be placed on the basics of Spanish grammar and vocabulary particularly helpful those who work with Spanish-speaking patients and co-workers. Classes will start on January 14 and continue each Tuesday night from 6 to 8 p.m. through April 8 in the Emergency Department Classroom. Materials will be provided the first night of class. Presented by: Meghan Dierks, MD, Instructor, Harvard Medical School, MIT Center for Clinical Computing, BIDMC, Clinical Decision Making Group, Laboratory for Computer Science, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Caprice K. Christian, MD, MPH, Surgical Research Fellow at BWH. This is a lecture series dedicated to communicating the many aspects of quality improvement and patient safety occurring at BWH and in the larger medical community. All physicians, nurses, administrators and staff are invited to attend.
