With health care in a period of rapid change and strategic planning underway across Brigham and Women’s/Faulkner Hospitals, the BW/F senior leadership team is taking time to open a dialogue with staff and employees across both hospitals.
“We have begun to develop a set of priority action areas, but we truly need everyone’s engagement and feedback to develop the best possible plan,” said Chief Medical Officer Stan Ashley, MD. “We hope that staff will engage with us and attend one of our open meetings to provide input, ask questions and challenge us. This kind of discussion is essential to address barriers to change and come up with the best strategy for future needs.”
At BWH, staff in many areas are working on a range of care redesign efforts to increase quality of care and reduce cost, as well as new contracts that require the hospital to manage the total health of patients, rather than simply a part of that care.
“There are many moving parts in our work in these areas, and our plans can only be strengthened by the involvement and voice of our staff and employees in all areas of the organization,” said Jackie Somerville, PhD, RN, senior vice president of Patient Care Services and chief nursing officer.
The first in a series of open discussions with hospital leadership will be held Wednesday, May 30, at 5 p.m., in the Bornstein Amphitheater. Join Ashley, Somerville, BWPO Chief Medical Officer Jessica Dudley, MD, Chief Quality Officer David Bates, MD, and Faulkner Hospital Chief Medical Officer O’Neil Britton, MD.
