In the midst of reports of bioterrorist activities in Washington, DC and New York, Brigham and Women’s Hospital is undertaking a thorough review of its current security policies. As part of that process, a variety of recommendations are being considered to enhance security measures at the hospital. The new policies will seek to balance access with security and be designed to meet the collective needs of patients, families, staff and employees. Further details about the approach will be shared in upcoming issues. In the meantime, staff and employees are reminded to wear their identification badges at all times and to review all existing security procedures for individual departments and the hospital as a whole.
