Scheurer Appointed Director in DOM
Danielle Scheurer, MD, in January was appointed director of the General Medical Service for the Department of Medicine. In this role, Scheurer is responsible for the Department of Medicine’s inpatient service. She manages programs to achieve departmental and hospital goals in measures of length of stay, patient satisfaction, referring physician communication, quality improvement and quality of education. She will work closely with John Reilly, MD, vice chair of Integrated Clinical Services, and Sylvia McKean, MD, director of the Hospitalist Group, to develop an inpatient hospital medicine curriculum.
Scheurer earned her MD from University of Tennessee Medical College, completed her residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Duke University Medical Center, and earned her master’s degree in clinical research at Medical University of South Carolina. Her research focuses on inpatient internal medicine and the prevention and treatment of nosocomial infections.
