BWH Celebrates National Patient Safety Week, March 10-16
BWH, Partners affiliates and other healthcare organizations across the nation are participating in a national initiative to recognize and improve patient safety awareness among executives, physicians, care providers, patients and the community. Observance of the “Stand Up For Patient Safety” celebration is part of the National Patient Safety Foundation’s drive to lead hospitals and health care systems to reduce medical errors and improve the quality of patient care. BWH and MGH are founding members of this initiative.
As part of the “Stand Up For Patient Safety” Celebration, BWH will:
1. Support educational and training opportunities to make patient safety a top priority for all staff members;
2. Empower patients and their families with information on how to make their health care safer; and
3. Encourage patients to ask questions about patient safety issues.
Some of the BWH-based activities during National Patient Safety Week activities include:
• Educational poster displays outside of the BWH Cafeteria and Bretholtz Center;
• Informational table at the 45 Francis Street entrance lower level waiting area with educational handouts on safety measures for patients and their families;
• An ongoing viewing of a patient safety video to be played in the Bretholtz Center and at the 45 Francis St. lower level waiting area; and
• Patient safety buttons and key chains for staff and patients.
