Vlassakov Appointed Director of Orthopedic and Regional Anesthesia
Kamen Vlassakov, MD, in January was appointed director of the Division of Orthopedic and Regional Anesthesia within the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine. In his new position, Vlassakov will work with all staff in Orthopedic Anesthesia and oversee daily activities within the department.
Vlassakov was born in Varna, Bulgaria. He earned his MD in 1992 from the Medical University in Varna and completed his Anesthesiology residency with the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine at Hershey. In 1997, he joined BWH’s Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine as an associate staff anesthesiologist and fellow in Clinical Research (1997-1998) and Regional Anesthesia (1998-1999). He has worked as staff anesthesiologist since July 1999. From 2003 to 2006, Vlassakov also worked in teaching hospitals in Germany and Bulgaria
