The second Robert L. Krakoff International Lecture in Cardiovascular Medicine at BWH took place in April drawing once again a distinguished and internationally recognized specialist in cardiovascular medicine to share expertise and experience with the BWH cardiovascular community.
William J. McKenna, MD, DSc, FRCP, professor of Cardiology, Dept of Medicine, UCL Acting Director (West), Institute of Cardiovascular Science, UCL/UCLH The Heart Hospital in London, presented “Diagnosis of Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy,” during the lecture.
McKenna’s recent work has contributed to the identification of disease-causing genes in hypertrophic, dilated and arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy. He also has contributed to the establishment of new diagnostic criteria within the context of familial disease and to the establishment of algorithms to identify patients at high risk of sudden death.
Created by the Robert L. Krakoff family in his memory, the lectureship is designed to promote the exchange of information and discoveries among BWH faculty, fellows and specialists abroad and funds an annual visit from an outstanding international academic leader.
