Dear Colleagues:
Earlier this month, BWH was listed on U.S. News & World Report’s Honor Roll of America’s Best Hospitals for the tenth consecutive year. Resuming our place among the nation’s top 10 hospitals has been a wonderful recognition, but more importantly sustaining the excellence that has kept us among the nation’s very best places to receive care over the course of the last decade is, I believe, truly remarkable.
One can argue about the validity of any external ranking system. Factors can be debated in terms of weight and importance and can vary from year to year. But, with all of that in mind, I think we can all share in the pride in knowing that we continue to be viewed as an exceptional hospital. BWH is a place where patients can receive the latest, most innovative care in a nurturing and compassionate environment. We are a hospital dedicated to exceptional research and remarkable opportunities to mentor the next generation of physicians while serving the needs of our community.
I want to offer my congratulations to each of you for the exceptional work you do on a daily basis to sustain our reputation. The benefits of your hard work can be evidenced in the eyes and the hearts of those we serve – our patients.
I offer a special note of congratulations to those members of the staff whose departments were recognized in this year’s publication. You are part of an exceptional team of care providers.
Sincerely,

Andy Whittemore, MD
Chief Medical Officer
