2005 Haley Scholarship Recipients

Three BWH nurses received 2005 Haley Scholarships. These scholarships provide financial support to nurses enrolled in a graduate nursing program at Boston College with a focus on neuroscience. The scholarships are made possible by the Brain Sciences Foundation, established by BWH trustee and former patient Steven Russell Haley and his wife Kathleen Powers Haley.
Marie Beaulieu, a staff nurse in the NICU, monitors the developing newborn's neurological system. She is on the pediatric nurse practitioner track at BC and aims to practice as an advanced practice nurse in the Neurology program at Children's Hospital or the joint newborn neurology program with BWH.
Heather Fitzgerald, a nurse in the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit, has practiced at BWH for 13 years on various units and held leadership roles including Clinical Nurse Educator. Her goal is to become a nurse practitioner in the hospital setting and to teach undergraduate nursing students. She also is interested in neuroscience research.
Shaun Golden, nurse manager of both the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit and the Department of Radiology, has worked in the field of Neuroscience since he began his nursing career at BWH in 1991. In addition to his responsibilities as nurse manager, Golden also represents the hospital at the New England Organ Donor Bank. His goal is to advance his nursing practice to a higher level through the personal growth he will achieve at BC.
