The BWH Workforce Initiative hosted the first celebration luncheon June 1 for staff and managers who are taking part in BWH’s Patient Care Assistant training program and the educational financial assistance program.
“Of all we do in support of our mission, nothing is more important than giving our employees the opportunity of a real career path and opportunity for growth here,” said BWH President Gary Gottlieb, MD, MBA. “And all of you have demonstrated courage in changing your routine, taking on new challenges and believing in yourselves.”
Six staff graduated this spring from the intensive PCA training program offered in conjunction with Bunker Hill Community College, Nursing and Workforce Development. The BWH educational financial assistance program provides staff with loans to study nursing or another discipline and then forgives those loans in exchange for a two-year commitment to work at BWH.
“In addition to providing resources for our employees, BWH is embracing this culture of learning and training as our managers help staff set personal and professional goals and then reach them,” said Beverley Sobers, director of Workforce Development.
