Erin McDonough recently joined BWH and Faulkner hospitals as senior vice president of Communication and Public Affairs, a position to which she brings a wealth of experience in health care leadership and communications.
“I look forward to the opportunity to work with the dedicated and talented members of the BW/F community to build on the rich history of these institutions,” said McDonough, who began June 1. “BW/F has a remarkable reputation, locally, nationally and internationally for outstanding clinical care, groundbreaking research, innovation and education. It is a great honor to be part of this team.”
In her new role, McDonough is providing strategic leadership in developing and implementing internal and external communications. She will work closely with the hospital leadership and staff, the BW/F board, the media, community leaders and other academic organizations in support of the hospital’s mission of patient care, teaching, research and community health.
Prior to joining BW/F, McDonough served for eight years as vice president of Public Affairs at nearby New England Baptist Hospital, where she was the senior communications officer and spokesperson. She brings extensive senior leadership experience in health care to BW/F, having also held positions at CareGroup and St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center.
“In addition to two decades working in the Boston health care market, Erin brings talent, expertise and a collaborative spirit to this role,” said BWH President Betsy Nabel, MD. “We are excited to welcome her to the leadership team and to the Brigham and Women’s and Faulkner family.”
McDonough earned a bachelor’s degree and an MBA from Northeastern University and takes over for former Vice President of Public Affairs Peter R. Brown, who transitioned to a new position as chief of staff at Partners HealthCare.
