The Division of Oral Medicine, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Dentistry of BWH recently initiated the Stephen T. Sonis Oral Medicine Lectureship. This annual lecture series honors Sonis (far left), the former Chief of the Division, for his 22 years of service from 1978-2000. James Sciubba (center), DMD, PhD, chief, Division of Dental and Oral Medicine, Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore, was the first professor invited to be part of this lectureship. Speaking on May 11, Sciubba gave a two-part lecture titled “Autoimmune Oral Diseases” and “Oral Manifestations of Systemic Disease.” Joseph Costa (far right), MD, current chief, Division of Oral Medicine, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Dentistry, presented a plaque and a Harvard tie to Sciubba.
