BWH Among Top Scorers in Neurosciences Survey
BWH's Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry departments combined to score in the top eight percent in the largest-ever survey of hospital-based neuroscience programs in the U.S.
The 2005 Neuroscience Center of Excellence survey examined the quality of hospitals' clinical programs, staff, facilities, technologies and business. BWH scored at 83 percent, nearly twice the 48 percent average score from 125 hospitals.
NeuroSource, Inc., a Chicago-based neurosciences development company, and HealthTech, a San Francisco-based research and education organization, ranked survey participants in four categories-clinical service, service line, specialty center and institute.
BWH was one of six hospitals and the only New England hospital to gain the stage four “institute” designation that only went to hospitals with programs focusing on integrated research, early technology adoption and ways to apply research findings to other subspecialties.
