Bridge Beautification Project Takes Flight
The corridor connecting BWH and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is transforming into a Bridge of Hope, decorated to inspire patients, visitors and staff. When finished, the completely renovated hallway will be adorned with more than 100 painted birds by renowned artist Nan Freeman.
Freeman, a faculty member of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, and her team of advanced graduate students are already hard at work, drawing and painting in the previously plain and poorly-lit corridor on the third floor of the Amory Building.
In selecting her winged subjects for the hallway mural, Freeman aimed for as wide a range of birds as possible, all of which will be portrayed realistically in their natural colors and carrying plants associated with healing.
