The legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., has left an indelible mark on the civil rights movement and the history of this nation. Partners HealthCare, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, the Center for Community Health and Health Equity and the Center for Surgery and Public Health will hold a celebration of the legacy of Dr. King on Feb. 10, from 2-3 p.m., at the Bornstein Family Amphitheater, BWH main campus. A reception will follow from 3-4 p.m. in Pod B of the BWH Cafeteria.
The event features John Payton, president and director-counsel of the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund (LDF). Payton has coordinated the LDF’s policy initiatives with executive and legislative bodies and expanded its interaction with other civil and human rights organizations to address today’s challenges related to racial justice and inclusiveness. A graduate of Pomona College and Harvard Law School, Payton was selected by the National Law Journal as one of the US’ most influential lawyers in the area of civil rights.
Admission is free; no tickets are required. Seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, contact Partners Employee Programs at 617-724-3965.
