Letter from the Chief Medical Officer

Dear Colleagues:
We have teamed up with our colleagues at Mass. General Hospital and new partners—the Kraft Group, owners of the New England Patriots football team—to open the Brigham and Women’s/Mass General Health Care Center in Foxborough. This brand new facility opened in February with gleaming ORs for day surgery, state-of-the art imaging and rehabilitation suites and a vast labyrinth of exam rooms and offices to house primary care and many specialties.
It’s about 30 miles south of Boston in one of the fast-growing areas of the state, where more than 30,000 Brigham and Mass. General patients live. With the opening of this new facility, we are bringing our world-class care and our commitment to safety and quality closer to the homes of our patients. We know this is what our patients want, and thanks to the Partners-wide dedication to infrastructure, we are in a unique position to do it.
BWH, MGH and all Partners hospitals and health care facilities have been working to build an integrated health care system. Our network of primary care physicians and specialists are using the same electronic medical record, which allows us to coordinate patient care safely and efficiently across our system. This ensures consistent access to the same medical records, imaging results and electronic safety checks whether we are in the Tower, 850 Boylston St. or Foxborough.
The facility, its staff and processes that are now in place ensure our patients will receive the same top-quality care they would expect in Boston without having to cope with city traffic and parking. We moved our Norwood primary care practice to Foxborough giving us the ability to welcome more patients and clearly meet a growing demand for primary care services. And our patients will have access to dozens more care providers from our multi-specialty clinic.
In recent years, we have made significant strides in putting our patients at the center of our care. With Foxborough and our successful collaborations with South Shore Hospital, Milford Regional Medical Center and other community-based care providers, we are making the center of our care more convenient for more patients.
Sincerely,
Andy Whittemore, MD
Chief Medical Officer
