Pilgrim Joins Faulkner as Chief of Clinical Neurology

David Pilgrim, MD, recently assumed the role of chief of Clinical Neurology at Faulkner Hospital, where he will work closely with Martin Samuels, MD, chair of the Department of Neurology at BW/F. Pilgrim’s primary roles will be to help increase the visibility and availability of neurology services at Faulkner Hospital and participate in formal teaching of medical residents and other clinicians about the diagnosis and treatment of neurologic diseases.
Pilgrim attended Amherst College and Cornell University Medical College. He trained in medicine at the Miriam Hospital in Providence and in neurology at Beth Israel, Brigham and Women’s and Children’s Hospitals in Boston. He was a Kaiser Fellow in geriatrics at Harvard and a stroke fellow at the Neurological Institute in New York.
Pilgrim has been practicing neurology at Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates since 1983 and will continue practicing with HVMA in addition to this new leadership role for Faulkner Hospital. He became chief of neurology in 1997. He opened the Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates neurology office at Faulkner in 2001 and was a neurologist for the East Boston Alzheimer’s Study and the Beth Israel confusion study. He has also practiced neurology and geriatrics at the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center for the Aged.

BWH’s Brown Named Associate Chief of Emergency Medicine at Faulkner
Calvin A. Brown III, MD, was named associate chief of Emergency Medicine at Faulkner Hospital, where he will be working closely with Ric Larson, MD, Chief of Emergency Medicine, on continuing the clinical and patient flow improvement initiatives taking place in the department.
Brown has been a full-time attending physician in BWH Emergency Medicine and an assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire and attended medical school at the University of Mississippi. He completed an emergency medicine residency training program at the Harvard-Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residency in 2005, serving as chief resident in his final year.
Brown’s primary areas of interest include airway management research and medical student/resident education.

Carol Nadelson, MD |
Nadelson to Step Down as OWC Director
Carol
Nadelson, MD, founding director of the Office for Women's Careers (OWC) in the
Center for Faculty Development & Diversity, will step down from this role
in December 2012.
Nadelson's
commitment and dedication to the interests and concerns of women faculty
brought multiple innovative programs to BW/F. She created and developed the OWC
to facilitate promotion and career advancement. Under her leadership, the OWC
and BW/F have been recognized as pioneering leaders, nationally and
internationally, in supporting the career development of women faculty. She
will continue to serve as a senior advisor to the Center for Faculty
Development & Diversity through September 2013.

Frances E. Jensen, MD

Jensen Leaves Neurology for Post at Penn
Frances E. Jensen, MD, a senior neurologist at BWH and the director of Translational Neuroscience at Children’s Hospital, has been appointed chair of the Department of Neurology at Penn Medicine, effective Aug. 13.
Jensen is a professor of neurology at Harvard Medical School and is active in education and mentoring programs related to translational medicine at the Harvard Clinical and Translational Science Center.
After graduating cum laude from Smith College with an A.B. degree in neuropsychology, Jensen received her medical degree from Cornell University Medical College. She completed her residency in internal medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and was chief resident in neurology at The Harvard Longwood Neurology Training Program. Jensen was also a clinical fellow and an instructor in neurology at Harvard Medical School. She became an assistant professor of Neurology in 1992, associate professor in 1998, and professor in 2007.
