Awards and Honors

Mary Allendorf-Burns, RN, of Tower 15CD, received this year’s Roxbury Tenants of Harvard “Believe and Achieve Scholarship” to assist her with her education. Allendorf-Burns was awarded $4,000 towards her goal of earning her bachelor’s degree. Allendorf-Burns has been an active participant in many RTH neighborhood committees and activities for many years. Her interest is in incorporating complimentary therapies in the Med-Surg acute care setting.
Degrees and Professional Certifications
Lauren Selvitella, MSN, RN, of the Center for Nursing Excellence, earned her master’s degree in Nursing Administration from Northeastern University in May. Selvitella also was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau, Gamma Epsilon Chapter this year.
Sharon Bouyer-Ferullo, MHA, RN, earned her master’s degree in Health Administration from Simmons College in May.
Julie Howe, BSN, RN, PCCN, of Tower 14CD, earned her PCCN accreditation after successfully passing the Progressive Care exam administered by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses.
Danielle Johnson, BSN, RN, OCN, of 5A Hem/Onc/BMT, recently received her OCN certification.

Gary McNabb, MSN, RN, from Shapiro 8, recently earned his master’s degree in the mental health nurse practitioner program from Regis College.
Donna-Marie Lynch, BSN, RN, CCRN, MICU nurse in-charge, and Allison L. Morgan, RN, BSN, CCRN, both from Tower 3BC, recently earned their CCRN accreditation.
Posters, Presentations and Publications
Amy Rex Smith, PhD, RN, of Tower 14CD, presented in May her research “Spiritual Care in the Patient-Centered ICU: Essential for End of Life Care and More…” at the National Teaching Institute for the American Association of Critical Care Nurses in New Orleans.

Carol Daddio Pierce, RN, MS, CCRN, ACNP, clinical educator in the MICU, presented on the topic “Rescuing the Airways: Management of Acute Respiratory Failure” at the Massacusetts Nurses Association in Canton.
Mary Willis, MS, RN, CWOCN; Judith Nagle, MSN, FNP-BC, CNOR; Ann Leary, BSN, RNC; Mary Anne Murphy Kenyon, MPH, MS, ONC, RN; Sue Vargas, AD, RN; Debra Pitts, AD, HT, RN; Pearl Cunningham, RN, BSN, MBA, CNOR; and K. Bickerstaff, BSN, RN, CPAN, CAPA, published “Professional Practice-Clinical Practice Outcomes; Standards of Care; Clinical Pathways: 3370: Exploring Skin Care Strategies During the Perioperative Process” in the May/June issue of Journal of Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing.
At the recent joint Society of Interventional Radiology and Association for Radiologic and Imaging Nursing meeting in San Diego, Radiology Nursing was well represented:
Anna Marie Frazier, BSN, RN, and Ellen McKeon-Levine, BSN, RN, from Interventional Angiography, jointly presented a session on “Current Events in Interventional Radiology.”
Angela Kanan, BSN, RN, CRN, from CSIR/CT/MRI Recovery, presented the lecture “Brain Tumors and MRI: Past, Present, and Future.”
Rick Foley, MS, RN, Radiology nurse manager, presented a session on “Interventional Neuroradiology.”
De’Ann McNamara, BSN, RN, CRN, Radiology nurse educator, co-facilitated a workshop “Building ARIN Driven Competencies” and presented a session on the “Evaluation of Clinical Research.”
Susan Benveniste, BSN, RN, CRN from Interventional Angiography, and Heather Macaulay, AD, RN, CRN from CSIR/CT/MRI Recovery, who both recently achieved the Certified Radiology Nurse (CRN) credential, supported their peers at the meeting.
