Nurse Travels to Asia Bringing Hope to AIDS Research

Patrice Nicholas, DNSc, MPH, RN, ANP, nurse administrator, traveled to Asia
to present at the XV International AIDS Meetings in Bangkok and to teach in Chiang
Mai, Thailand. Nicholas also volunteered at an AIDS orphanage in northwest Thailand
and traveled to Cambodia. At the International AIDS Meetings, she presented results
from her international research on symptom management for peripheral neuropathy.
In addition, she presented a second research study on medication adherence and
quality of life in HIV-positive persons in South Africa. On her way back to BWH,
Nicholas presented at the International Research Congress of Sigma Theta Tau International,
the International Honor Society in Nursing. Her presentation focused on lipodystrophy-related
symptom management in HIV disease.
