Gail Morrissey, former manager of Clinical Compliance, was named director of Clinical Compliance in the Compliance and Risk Management Department in November.
Morrissey was actively involved in the unannounced January 2007 Joint Commission surveys of the hospital and laboratories. “Gail was instrumental in the successful outcome of the review,” said Janet Barnes, JD, RN, executive director of Compliance and Risk Management. “As a result of her leadership and commitment in effectively preparing the institution for the assessment, the surveyors came away from BWH impressed with our dedication to delivering the safest care to our patients.”
In her new position, Morrissey remains committed to ensuring BWH’s continual readiness related to regulatory compliance, accreditation and licensure requirements. As the chair of the Ever Ready Team and Readiness Steering Committee, she oversees the continual readiness process, and she directs the integration of standards and regulation with clinical programs through BWH and Partners HealthCare. She also directs BWH’s accreditation and prepares the hospital for licensure surveys. She is responsible to provide education and consultation to hospital employees.
Prior to joining BWH in 2005, Morrissey served as the director of performance improvement at St. Joseph Health Services of Rhode Island.
