Thomas Lee, MD, will take on important work in clinical quality measurement, clinical quality collaboration and physician relations that was initiated and overseen by George Thibault, MD, vice president for Clinical Affairs, who leaves Partners at the end of December to assume the presidency of the Josiah Macy, Jr. Foundation.
“With the significant contributions by Sheridan Kassirer, vice president for Quality Management and Clinical Programs, this work has developed into a robust set of activities that have provided the foundation for the High Performance Medicine initiative Dr. Lee has been leading so effectively,” said James Mongan, MD, president and CEO of Partners HealthCare.
This change consolidates the PHS system-wide efforts on quality measurement and improvement, and, in conjunction with Lee’s other responsibilities for contracting activities and physician network, will give him system-level oversight of clinical performance.
Lee, who also has been a senior physician at BWH for many years, will work closely with Jennifer Daley, MD, chief medical officer for PCHI, Kassirer, and Alex Baker, PCHI chief operating officer.
