For the 18th consecutive year, BWH secured its place on U.S. News & World Report’s Honor Roll of America’s Best Hospitals, ranking eleventh.
BWH placed in the top 10 for Gynecology, Rheumatology, Kidney Disorders, Heart and Heart Surgery and Diabetes and Endocrinology. The hospital ranked among the top 20 for Cancer, Pulmonology, Gastroenterology, Neurology and Neurosurgery, Geriatrics and Orthopedics. BWH also placed on the list for Urology.
“Our consistent presence on the U.S. News & World Report Honor Roll for nearly two decades is a testament to your hard work and absolute dedication to our mission of providing exceptional patient care, advancing scientific discovery, teaching the next generation of health care leaders and reaching out to our local and global community,” BWH President Betsy Nabel, MD, wrote in a memo congratulating all employees July 15. “It takes each one of us—whether we work in a clinical, administrative, research or support role—to make Brigham and Women’s one of the best academic medical centers in the world.”
U.S. News analyzed data on 4,852 medical centers to produce this year’s rankings. Of those, only 152 hospitals were ranked in one or more specialties. Just 14 hospitals qualified for Honor Roll distinction by achieving high scores at or near the top of at least six of the 16 surveyed specialties.
MGH ranked third on the Honor Roll, and other Partners hospitals earned high honors as well. McLean Hospital was third in Psychiatry, Spaulding placed fourth in rehabilitation, and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, BWH’s partner in cancer care, ranked sixth in cancer services. The top 50 hospitals are ranked in each category.
