Jack Connors stands next to his portrait, which was unveiled at a ceremony in June.
As a champion for women’s health and a former chairman of the BWH Board of Trustees, Jack Connors’ contributions to the hospital have made an indelible impact on the BWH community. During a recent ceremony in his honor, Connors took to the podium in Bornstein and told hospital leadership and friends why he has chosen to be part of BWH.
“In many ways, it’s the same reason doctors, nurses and other care givers come to work everyday. It’s a great honor to have the opportunity to make a difference in a person’s life,” said Connors, who served as chairman of the BWH Board of Trustees from 1992 to 1997, and currently is the chairman of Partners HealthCare Board of Trustees. “When I’m at the Brigham, I truly feel like I’m among family.”
Last month, BWH ensured his legacy will be honored for decades to come as hospital leadership unveiled a portrait of Connors that will hang on the Nesson Pike near the Mary Horrigan Connors Center for Women’s Health. In 1998, Connors founded the center, which is named after his mother.
“What you have done here over the years is truly extraordinary,” said BWH President Betsy Nabel, MD. “Your leadership has helped make this a better place and the nation’s premier hospital for women’s health.”
Partners President and CEO Gary Gottlieb, MD, MBA, thanked Connors for his contributions and dedication to BWH’s mission. “Among the many things you have shared with us, the greatest gifts have been your friendship, wisdom, leadership and thoughtfulness,” he said.
The portrait is scheduled to be hung later this summer.
