As the importance of the BWH-Faulkner merger becomes more apparent, the integration of services at both hospitals hit new milestones in FY 2000 and further growth and integration is planned for 2001. Last year, more than 1,600 BWH surgical procedures were performed at Faulkner Hospital and expanded clinical services continued to demonstrate the promise of the merger.
The accomplishments in 2000 included:
• Development of a full Hospitalist program at Faulkner
• Opening of the BW/F Vein Centre at Faulkner
• Opening of the Foot and Ankle Centre at Faulkner
• Establishment of a full-time cardiology program at Faulkner
• BWH backfill volume exceeded budget
• Launching of a joint marketing strategy
• Further integration of automated and manual systems at both campuses
• HVMA Memoradum of Understanding was signed
• The General Medical Service began admitting patients to Faulkner
The goals for 2001 include further expansion and integration of clinical activity, including the coordination HVMA volume.
