Quality Rounds
February 13, 2001
BWH is launching a new lecture series entitled “Quality Rounds” dedicated to communicating the many aspects of quality improvement and patient safety occurring at BWH and in the larger medical community.
The first lecture in this series will take place on February 13, 2001
from 12 to 1p.m. in the Anesthesia Conference Room and will be given by Lawrence Shulman, MD, and Patricia Reid Ponte, RN, DNSc., entitled “Involvement of Patients and Families in Quality Improvement Processes.”
The series is being sponsored by BWH President Jeffrey Otten and Chief Medical Officer Andy Whittemore, MD. All physicians, nurses, administrators and staff are invited to attend. Lunch will be served.
BWH is in the midst of shifting how inpatients are surveyed regarding their satisfaction with inpatient care from the Picker Institute survey instrument to Press Ganey. The move will allow the hospital to survey a greater number of patients (28,000 annually vs. 4,800 annually), monitor monthly progress and benchmark performance against peer groups. All Partners institutions have contracted with Press Ganey, which will also allow network-wide benchmarking.
More information about Quality Rounds and the Press Ganey survey is available by contacting Paula Johnson, MD, or Michael Gustafson, MD.
