Michaud Joins BWH Trauma
Yvonne Michaud, MS, RN, CEN, last month joined the Division of Trauma, Burns, and Surgical Critical Care as a trauma clinical nurse specialist.
Michaud graduated from the University of Massachusetts Worcester, Graduate School of Nursing Studies. She joins the Brigham with 17 years experience in Trauma Services, Emergency Department, Surgical Intensive Care and Hematology/Oncology. Michaud is a member of numerous professional organizations. She serves as co-chair for the Injury Prevention Subcommittee of the Massachusetts Emergency Nurses Association and is an instructor and course director for the Trauma Nursing Care Course and Injury Prevention/EN CARE Programs.
The clinical nurse specialist is a multifaceted role that largely supports nurses to provide innovative and excellent care, as well as strengthens the Trauma and Burn Center’s interface with the many services that affect a discrete patient population. “I have always enjoyed the challenges of wearing many hats,” Michaud said.
Michaud will track patients from their arrival to BWH’s emergency department and as they move through each phase of their admission. She hopes to be instrumental in developing a spirit of inquiry and curricula for trauma care and injury prevention. Michaud also hopes to influence legislation to control injuries and support the Center’s research goals.
