BWH Clinical Systems Audit begins in September
The Department of Health Information Services (HIS) is leading a user audit of clinical systems in September to ensure appropriate staff access BICS CI, LMR and CDR.
If you manage direct reports who have BICS CI, LMR or CDR access you will receive an e-mail with a link directing you to the audit Web site. The tool is designed to be easy to use. Managers, or anyone responsible for entering an employee’s or staff member’s time as defined by Peoplesoft, must complete the online audit for each employee or staff member within the 30-day audit period. Completing the audit will support the federally mandated requirement to “implement physical, technical, and administrative safeguards in order to protect health information”.
“This is the most efficient method for BWH to maintain network security and remain compliant with HIPAA Privacy and Security laws,” Jackie Raymond, RHIA, director of Health Information Services and BWH’s privacy officer.
The clinical systems audit begins Sept. 5 and runs for four weeks. During that time, approximately 490 managers or timekeepers will receive an e-mail report detailing an average of 20 staff members for whom they must review systems access. “These e-mails will be self-explanatory and include direct links to the Web-based audit tool,” Raymond said.
