Talented physicians from BWH and Faulkner Hospital got the chance to belt out tunes from classic films with the Boston Pops last month during the 13th annual Partners Night at the Pops.
Jason Frankel, MD, of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, led a rendition of “As Time Goes by” from “Casablanca,” and Lynne Stevenson, MD, of Cardiology, sang “Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head” from “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.” Singing in the chorus from BW/F were Daniel Morganstern, MD, Breast Oncology; Lisa Owens, MD, Department of Medicine; and Barbara Weissman, MD, Radiology.
This annual celebration of physicians coincided with the Pops’ 125th anniversary, and conductor Keith Lockhart led the orchestra in a trip down memory lane by performing musical selections from legendary Pops conductors Arthur Fiedler and John Williams, as well as from Lockhart’s own repertoire. The Pops and guest singer Maureen McGovern thoroughly entertained the nearly 1,000 Partners physicians and their guests in attendance.
The BW/F physicians were among 15 total doctors from across Partners participating in “A Cinematic Sing-Along,” which had the audience crooning the tunes along with the doctors and watching as images from the films were displayed on a large screen. With some creative editing, the images were altered to display the physicians’ faces in place of the actual actors and actresses.
This event is possible thanks to the generous sponsorship of John Hancock for the past 11 years.
