Dear Colleagues:
Now more than five years strong, Brigham and Women’s/Faulkner Hospitals (BW/F) continues to make strides in coordinating patient care. Today, both institutions and the caregivers within are working to deliver the right care in the right location, building upon the strengths of each campus.
As we experience continuous growth in volume, new beds continue to be opened at Faulkner. The second of two new operating rooms will be open shortly, providing more resources for surgical capacity between the two institutions. In addition, we now benefit from the expansion of the BW/F Psychiatric Inpatient Unit at Faulkner, making available critical resources to an underserved patient population. Likewise, imaging capacity continues to increase, Neurology services continue to grow and the integration of information systems is continually enhancing the continuum of care between facilities that patients have grown accustomed to at BW/F. IS teams have been diligently helping to provide caregivers with all necessary patient information conveniently at the point of care. Unifying the Pre-Admitting centers at both institutions is also being met with praise and making the patient experience more consistent and familiar. To assist with such expansion and growth, a new garage has been completed at Faulkner, providing more convenient access for patients.
Keeping with tradition, similar advances will continue to strengthen the BW/F affiliation. I appreciate all of your efforts in building upon the affiliation’s original premise that both institutions would greatly benefit from a strategic partnership to provide greater access to care.
Sincerely,
Andy Whittemore, MD
Chief Medical Officer
