Thomson Award: Celebrating Leadership and Compassionate Care
Jan. 6, 2005, is the deadline for nominations for two important recognition awards that originated from the remembrance and impression of one of BWH’s most significant leaders—the late Dennis Thomson, former vice president of Public Affairs. The seventh annual Dennis Thomson Leadership Award and Compassionate Care Scholar Awards will be presented March 30.
The Leadership Award is presented to a staff member who exemplifies qualities of leadership as described by Thomson, who was often referred to as the “conscience of BWH.” The award honors an effective leader and mentor who exemplifies those traits. Past Thomson leaders include Maria Damiano, Nancy Hickey, Mary Lou Moore, Paula McNichols, Dot Goulart and Nawal Nour.
The Compassionate Care Scholar Awards recognize employees from any discipline who embody the principles of compassion in their daily work and exemplify it most at the bedside of patients. The scholarship awards provide seed money to support projects that benefit patients.
