Foley Joins BWH as Radiology Nurse Manager

After a two-year, national search, BWH Radiology last month selected Richard Foley, MS, BSN, RN, as nurse manager. In this role Foley, who brings more than 20 years of nursing leadership experience to BWH, will manage more than 40 nurses, licensed staff and patient care assistants.
“I am truly excited to be given the opportunity to work in such a dynamic institution and with such highly professional nurses, physicians and technologists,” Foley said.
Foley joins BWH from Jordan Hospital in Plymouth, where he served since 2002 as nursing director for the Emergency Department, overseeing 53 full-time employees in a 48,000-visit per year ED. During that time, Foley selected and put in place a patient tracking system, implemented a service excellence program and worked to help the hospital attain Department of Public Health Primary Stroke Center designation.
Foley has held leadership positions throughout his career, including nurse manager of Brockton Hospital’s Emergency Department, acting vice president of Patient Services at Deaconess-Glover Hospital in Needham and nurse manager of the Emergency Department at Faulkner Hospital. He also served as an on-call flight nurse caring for patients being transferred all over the United States.
Foley earned his master’s degree in management from Lesley College and his bachelor of science in nursing and bachelor of arts in anthropology from Boston University.
