HEART Awards Given in PACU

Last month, the Post Anesthesia Care Unit presented four HEART awards to those
who were instrumental in obtaining a television set and cable wiring for the
PACU patients during the Red Sox World Series.
The HEART award, which stands for Honoring, Excellence And Recognizing Talent,
was given by the PACU staff to Leo Buckley, director, Business Services, Patient
Care Services; Peggy Doyle, director, Perioperative Services; Claire Fitzgerald-O’Shea,
nurse manager, Operating Room, and Jeanne Lanchester, RN, nurse manager, PACU/Preop/DSU.
“This award truly encompasses the support from administration to the patient
at the bedside,” said Michelle McCausland, RN, PACU. “The first
question a 22-year-old patient I was caring for asked was ‘How are the
Red Sox doing?’ Thanks to everyone’s incredible efforts, we were
able to provide the opportunity for patients to enjoy the winning game.”
