Obituary:Carolyn Gannon

Carolyn Gannon, RN, BSN, MA, a former ED staff nurse, passed away May 9 at the age of 72 after a long illness.
Gannon began her career as a stewardess for American Airlines, which required her to obtain nursing certification. After she married husband Bill and had three sons, she became assistant director of outpatient nursing at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute from 1980 until1989. From there, she came to BWH as an evening shift supervisor before working in oncology, interventional radiology and eventually the ED, where she continued on staff until the week before her death.
A memorial service to celebrate Gannon's life will be held on July 5 at 3:30 p.m. in the Bornstein Auditorium, followed by a reception in the Cohn Courtyard.
