When Brookline High’s football team takes to the field this fall, players will have the support of BWH Orthopedic Surgery behind them.
As part of a new agreement between BWH and the school, Laurence Higgins, MD, chief of BWH Sports Medicine, Andreas Gomoll, MD, Scott Martin, MD, and Tom Minas, MD, will provide coverage to the athletic department at Brookline High School during all home football games and consultations for any students injured during practices.
“We’re excited about this new partnership,” Higgins said. “We’re dedicated to the treatment of student athletes and the Brookline community.”
In addition, BWH Rehabilitation Services will provide a part-time athletic trainer to assist in the treatment and triage of student athletes injured during after-school hours.
In addition to providing physician and athletic trainer coverage, BWH is providing new equipment for the Sports Medicine Center and training room at Brookline High. “We look forward to developing this relationship and watching it flourish over time,” Higgins said.
