Geovanni Castro, of Materials Management, celebrated his newly-earned American citizenship last month with his colleagues on Connors Center 8.
Castro emigrated from El Progreso, Honduras, in 1986 and has worked at BWH since. Last year, he decided to take the test to become a citizen. “It wasn’t that bad if you studied,” said Castro, who hit the books for eight months before taking the test and receiving citizenship.
His colleagues threw him a party with an American flag cake to celebrate. “We are thrilled for Geo,” said Phyllis Fusco, RN, of Connors Center 8, who helped coordinate the party. “He is known for his pleasant attitude, and his smile always brightens our day.”
