Each year, countless patients and their families are touched by the compassion of BWHers in all areas of the hospital. In honor of Thanksgiving, BWH Bulletin compiled excerpts of some recent thank you notes from patients and families.
Dear Interpreter Services,
My friend had a great interpreter during her total pregnancy and labor and birth of her daughter. She was very pleasant and understanding and very informative about the whole hospital experience. We really appreciated her help and caring during a very special time in my friend’s life.
Dear Tower 11D,
I underwent a double lung transplant seven years ago, and this year, I had to transfer my care to Brigham and Women’s Hospital. I want you to know what an outstanding job Brigham’s Lung Transplant Team has done! My transition was made easier because of the outstanding staff who came together for my first visit. As a transplant patient, I know there will be more time spent in your facility for the next four years; however, the anxiety I once had concerning my future treatment has been eliminated.
Dear midwives and nurses,
My husband and I weren’t sure what to expect when we scheduled the inducement for our first child. What an amazing experience it turned out to be! From the moment we arrived on your floor, we knew we were in good hands. Thank you, everyone, for making the most important day in our lives such a joyous one!
Dear Tower 10AB Nurses,
Thank you for the wonderful care I received while at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. I never wanted for anything; they knew what I needed before I even asked. Everyone was friendly and had a positive attitude. No one from the housekeepers to the charge nurse ever acted as if they would rather be elsewhere. Prior to this, I never considered that any hospital stay could be considered pleasant.
Dear BWH,
I am writing to compliment the fine doctors, nurses and other staff who took care of my brother when he was treated for leukemia.
Everybody—from the doctors and nurses to the person who emptied the trash—said hello, smiled, knew my brother’s name and explained what they were doing when they came in. The people that man your switchboard and parking garages and eateries also were so helpful and pleasant. I also noticed how clean the facilities were and how up-to-date and maintained the equipment looked. You all turned what was a very scary and challenging time for my family into a manageable, hopeful and reassuring experience.
