Birkemose Joins BWH as Transplant Program Nursing Director

Patrick Birkemose |
Patrick Birkemose, MSN, RN, was named nursing director for the BWH Transplant Program in February.
Birkemose will oversee the daily operations of the program. He will work with nursing staff, department and hospital leadership to ensure the program continues to comply with and stay abreast of all local and national regulatory compliance requirements.
“I’m excited about sharing my expertise and learning from the Brigham’s knowledgeable and compassionate nursing staff,” he said.
Birkemose added that he is eager to provide a nursing voice within the Transplant Program.
“One of the things that attracted me to the job is the commitment that Brigham nursing staff have to the institution and the patients they care for. My hope is that I can help continue building on that commitment with our transplant patients and services,” he said.
Birkemose joins BWH after spending the last decade at Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was most recently a clinical nurse specialist in the transplant unit. Before that, he was a staff nurse in the MGH Cardiac ICU.
Birkemose earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Massachusetts Boston.
