Sharf History Wall Showcases Excellence in Nursing

One of several image panels on display along the Nesson Pike that honors excellence in nursing. |
The history exhibit on the Nesson Pike, funded by BWH Trust Board member Fred Sharf, received an exciting new addition in December: a series of four image panels showcasing BWH’s tradition of excellence in nursing.
Historical and contemporary photos depict BWH nurses promoting and restoring health and wellness in clinical and community settings. Located across from the Bill Brett photographs along the Pike at 45 Francis St., the exhibit illustrates some of the rich history of nursing at BWH and its four predecessor institutions: the Boston Lying-In Hospital (opened in 1832), Free Hospital for Women (1875), Peter Bent Brigham Hospital (1913) and Robert Breck Brigham Hospital (1914).
The Jean S. and Frederic A. Sharf History Wall will eventually span the Pike from 15 Francis St. to the bridge leading to the cafeteria.
