The Office for Multicultural Faculty Careers (OMC), part of BWH’s Center for Faculty Development and Diversity, has named Ileana Jiménez García as administrative director. In her new role, Jiménez García will support academic departments and training programs, lead diversity recruitment and retention initiatives, and provide career guidance and support for the professional development, mentoring and academic advancement of underrepresented minority students, trainees and faculty at BWH.
Jiménez García has served as director of Interpreter Services at BWH for the past 15 years. She established the Department of Interpreter Services and expanded its capacity to a multicultural workforce of 95 employees. She also established the hospital’s Interpreter Ethics Rounds and played a role in hospital committees focusing on initiatives related to access, disabilities, quality assurance and diversity, among others.
Originally from Puerto Rico, Jiménez García has a bachelor’s degree from Boston College and an MBA from Northeastern University. Prior to coming to BWH in 1995, she worked as a training specialist, health educator and case manager for the Latino Health Institute and the East Boston Neighborhood Health Center.
