BWH Faculty Members Receive HMS Mentoring Awards

Four BWH faculty members were selected to receive HMS Excellence in Mentoring Awards.

John Z. Ayanian, MD, MPP, Division of General Internal Medicine, associate professor of Medicine, and Ursula B. Kaiser, MD, Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Hypertension, associate professor of Medicine, received the A. Clifford Barger Excellence in Mentoring Award. This annual dean’s award was established in 1995 to honor faculty members of the Harvard Medical School and Harvard School of Dental Medicine who are exemplary mentors. Nominations are submitted by medical and dental faculty, trainees and students.

Juan C. Celedón, MD, DrPH, department of Research/Medical/Channing Laboratory and assistant professor of Medicine, and Mukesh K. Jain, MD, Cardiovascular Division, assistant professor of Medicine, were honored with the Young Mentor Award. Created this year, the award recognizes individuals early in their careers for their contributions as mentors. Their guidance helps facilitate successful career development in basic and clinical medicine.

Ayanian, Kaiser, Celedón and Jain will be honored at an awards ceremony on May 25.
