Travel Clinic Offers Vaccinations, Counseling
The Travel Clinic at Faulkner Hospital is open to anyone planning to travel abroad or to an area for which vaccinations may be necessary.
Roy Welker, MD, is certified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to administer vaccinations for many diseases that travelers might encounter, including yellow fever. He also counsels travelers, informing them of what vaccinations they should receive, what to do if they get sick and symptoms of certain illnesses to watch for.
After the clinic opened on Oct. 1, many travelers sought vaccinations before heading to Louisiana to cover Hurricane Katrina.
The clinic is open on an appointment-only basis by calling 617 983-4430. Fees for the clinic must be paid by patients at the time of service, and patients are responsible for submitting claims to their insurance providers.
