New Posts in CDIC

Beth McDonald, BSN, MBA, RN, in June was named nurse manager for the Cardiovascular Diagnostic and Interventional Center (CDIC). In this role, McDonald manages about 108 employees, including nurses, technicians, physician assistants and patient care assistants, who work in the Cardiac Cath Lab, the Electrophysiology Lab and the Cardiovascular Recovery Room.
“I’m fortunate to be able to work with such highly skilled staff in the CDIC,” McDonald said. “It’s been a pleasure working here for the past two years, and I look forward to carrying out the responsibilities of my new role.”
McDonald previously was assistant clinical director of the CDIC for two years. Prior to that, she was clinical service coordinator of the cardiac operating room at Massachusetts General Hospital for 12 years. She also has held staff nurse positions at MGH’s cardiac surgical service, cardiac surgical intensive care unit and cardiac surgical intermediate-care unit. McDonald earned her MBA from Boston University Graduate School of Management and her BSN from Boston College.
Brenda DiConza, RN, continues in her role as assistant nurse manager of the CDIC and will add to her portfolio responsibility for process of care and transition planning for L2, including the Cardiovascular Recovery Room, in the new Carl J. and Ruth Shapiro Cardiovascular Center.
DiConza served as acting nurse manager of the CDIC from August 2005 until and, prior to that, was assistant nurse manager of the CDIC since January 2005. She previously held staff nurse and nurse-in-charge positions for the Cardiac Cath Unit. Prior to joining BWH in 2002, DiConza held nursing posts at hospitals in Cape Cod and South Carolina.
