Greenspan Named Program Manager for New Nursing Simulation Center

Miriam Greenspan, MSN, RN, in October joined BWH as the program manager for the Nursing Simulation Center, which is scheduled to open this spring. The center will provide opportunities for nurses to practice specific patient care scenarios in a safe and life-like clinical setting.
Greenspan has been instrumental in planning and developing programs for the new center. Greenspan, Diane Campbell, BSN, RN; Carol Luppi, BSN, RNC; Dorothy Bradley, MSN, RN; and Laura Mylott, PhD, RN, Education and Development director of Evidence-based Practice, are working to understand the technology and audio-visual aspects of computer simulation and planning for the faculty model pilot this spring, which will give newly hired nurses the opportunity to simulate their care of patients at BWH.
“The Simulation Center will enhance the way nurses learn,” Greenspan said. “We hope it encourages them to refine and reflect on their practices and ultimately continue growing and developing new options in patient care.”
Once the Simulation Center opens, Greenspan will collaborate with nurse educators, nurse managers and staff nurses to develop individualized, evidence-based programs for a variety of patient-care scenarios. She also plans to organize an advisory panel, consisting of nurses from all levels of practice, to develop a long-term plan for the center’s progression and growth.
Greenspan earned her BSN from the University of Pennsylvania in 1972 and her MSN from Boston College in 1987. She brings to BWH experience in both clinical and educational settings. Greenspan held several positions at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, including her most recent as nurse manager of the Pulmonary-Medical ICU and Coronary Care Unit. She joins BWH from Massachusetts General Hospital, where she was a clinical nurse in the CCU and the professional development coordinator for the Center for Clinical and Professional Development.
