Obituary
Lynn F. Rodriguez, RN, CCM, Care Coordination

Lynn F. (Colpitts) Rodriguez, RN, CCM, a Care Coordination nurse who embodied patient-centered care, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2007, following a brief illness. She was 46.
Mrs. Rodriguez, who joined BWH in 1993 and worked as a staff nurse and Care Coordinator for cardiology patients during the last decade, was well-known among her colleagues for “making sure everything was taken care of for her patients,” said Christine Dutkiewicz, MSN, RN, CCM, Care Coordination nurse manager.
“Just recently, Lynn took money out of her own pocket to make sure a patient being discharged had enough money to take the train home. She just wanted to make sure he got home,” Dutkiewicz said. “She was a great advocate for her patients.”
Karen Reilly, BSN, MBA, RN, nurse manager on Tower 12, and Stacey Damron, BSN, RN, a nurse in-charge on 12C, both recalled Mrs. Rodriguez as meticulously making sure everything was in place for patients during their stay and discharges. She also shared her genuine sense of humor and outgoing personality with her colleagues and patients.
“You always knew when Lynn was coming on the floor because we all heard her greet us with, ‘Good morning, everybody!’” Reilly said.
Damron added that Mrs. Rodriguez shared e-mail jokes with her friends and colleagues, as well as pictures of and stories about her daughter. “She was the proudest mother. Everything revolved around her daughter, Thalia,” Damron said.
Mrs. Rodriguez, who grew up in Saratoga, N.Y., and Tewksbury, was the daughter of Frederick and Anne (Crowe) Colpitts. She earned her bachelor’s in Nursing from Northeastern University in Boston and she was working toward her master’s degree in nursing at Lesley College.
She was the wife of Rafael Rodriguez, and dedicated mother of 7-year-old Thalia A. Rodriguez of Framingham.
In addition to her husband, daughter and parents, she is survived by a sister, Judith Colpitts of Maine; two brothers, Clayton Colpitts of Groveland, and Glenn Colpitts of Framingham; and two nieces.
BWH colleagues have started a fund to benefit her daughter. Friends and colleagues of Mrs. Rodriguez established a scholarship investment fund with Fidelity Investments for Thalia. To make a contribution or for more information, contact Lisa Cantalupo, RN, BSN, in Care Coordination.
