Starfish Winners Celebrated

Starfish Award recipients are, from left, Aubrey Lemieux, Lauren Godsoe, Darlene Brill, Marie Boussicot and Bill Gallant.
“After a very difficult night of extreme pain and an embarrassing accident that required a bed change at 2 a.m., Marie’s help and her genuine TLC started off my day on a very positive note. Her gentle touch and comforting words eased all my fears, worries and embarrassment.”
These appreciative words, expressed by a patient of Marie Boussicot, patient care assistant on 10AB, are echoed by all of her patients. For making her patients’ comfort a top priority, Boussicot earned a Starfish Award, which honors BWHers committed to care, compassion, respect, advocacy and mentoring.
“Marie is a very caring and compassionate person, and patients rave about her. Her approach is always friendly and from the heart,” said Fernanda Trevisone, 10AB, who nominated Boussicot.
Boussicot was one of seven Starfish Award winners recognized during February’s ceremony. Aubrey Lemieux, RN, 14AB; Christine Mitchell, LICSW, Care Coordination; Darlene Brill, RN, Care Coordination; Lauren Godsoe, RN, CWN-5; Wendy Jeffrey-O’Flavin, Center for Reproductive Medicine; and William Gallant, Transport, also were honored with Starfish Awards for their commitment to patients.
“Starfish Award winners go above and beyond every day,” said Julianne Mazzawi, MS, RN, member of the Starfish Committee, who emceed this month’s ceremony. “Every interaction we have with patients, no matter how small, is important to the patient.”
