Resnic Named Director of Cardiac Cath Lab
Frederic Resnic, MD, MSc, in June was named director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. In this position, he will oversee all of the lab’s activity, including clinical care, faculty practice and education and clinical translational research.
“Since joining the interventional cardiovascular faculty at BWH in 2000, Dr. Resnic has provided exceptional clinical leadership in invasive and interventional techniques and has developed a strong research program focused on outcomes research and the use of medical informatics for the study of medical and interventional safety,” said Peter Libby, MD, chief of Cardiovascular Medicine. “We’re delighted to have him lead the Cardiac Catheterization Lab.”
Resnic received his MD from Mount Sinai School of Medicine and completed his residency, cardiovascular fellowship and interventional cardiology fellowship at BWH and HMS. He holds a master’s degree in medical informatics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and has completed a fellowship in Medical Informatics at BWH. In addition to his clinical and research work at BWH, Resnic has served as the director of the Cardiac Cath Lab for the Boston Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center and serves as the senior medical advisor for coronary interventional procedures at the Massachusetts Data Analysis Center and Department of Public Health.
“At a leading academic medical center such as BWH, there is a tremendous opportunity to develop innovative programs for the 21st century challenges and opportunities that face interventional cardiology,” Resnic said. “I look forward to coordinating the efforts of our outstanding staff and feel honored to have been asked to direct the efforts of this remarkable group.”
